Walking for Water is honored to support Wisdom Spring, Inc. , in the effort to build wells in rural Africa. Clean water is a luxury in many parts of the world, but with your generosity we can honor Sobonfu's legacy and help put an end to water deprivation. While studying in America, a professor asked Sobonfu what she would like to bring back to her village and her answer was WATER. Sobonfu created Wisdom Spring, Inc. to give the gift of safe water, and to transform lives in her village.

Susan Hough was a student of Sobonfu's teachings and after reading her book for the fourth time, spirit compelled Susan to seek out and meet Sobonfu. Susan and Sobonfu were destined to share their gifts with one another; and that they did. Sobonfu taught Susan the African rituals of the Dagara Village, which remind us how to recognize and celebrate each other's gifts. In turn, Susan joined the efforts of Wisdom Spring by creating Walking for Water with Kristen Wood. Walking for Water is a teen driven organization committed to lifting up the community that shared so much wisdom with Susan. In the past 15 years their joint efforts, have resulted in the creation of over 30 wells in West Africa, and this is just the beginning. Together Walking for Water and Wisdom Spring, have united to heal and support one another, while sharing their gifts.

This year we were able to raise enough money to dig five wells, and three are being put in Burkina Faso. The two new ones are going to India and Nepal, bringing clean water to over 5,000 people! This year we are counting on you to reach our goal of digging three more wells. Our annual walks symbolize the daily struggle of women and children around the world; as they walk miles each day to access clean water. Walking for Water empowers our teens to service those in need and share their gifts with indigenous communities. Each Spring, we host annual walks in Laguna Beach, CA and Leesburg, VA, in an effort to raise awareness and funds to complete our mission to bring clean water to Africa and beyond.

Your support means everything to us and we invite you to donate or learn more about our cause: www.wisdomspring.org and lbhswalkingforwater.org.

While being involved in Walking for Water and working with Susan Hough I have learned that there are never any bad ideas, and there is always something more we could do to help the planet. She has become like a mother to all the girls in the club and to me. She is always reminding us that we are part of something much bigger than just a high school club. I know I can always count on Susan to guide me through any hardship whether it be in Walking for Water or in my personal life.
